Director index search: Hong Kong

A director index search runs against the Companies Registry's Directors Index. Searched by person, it returns the Hong Kong companies in which that person is currently a director or reserve director. Searched by company, it returns the current directors and reserve directors of that company. A director particulars search can then be added for the particulars of one appointment. The index covers current appointments only; past directorships are traced from the company's filed documents, such as notices of change of director, which a document image order returns.

Banks and wealth managers order it on a customer's key controllers to see what else they run, which feeds the PEP, sanctions and adverse media screen with the right names. Litigators and insolvency practitioners use it to map the companies connected to one individual. Vendor and procurement teams use it to find links between suppliers that share a director.

Send the person's full name as it appears on their identity document, in English or Chinese, and their identification number if you hold it, which narrows a common name to one person. Or send a company name or business registration number for a company-based search. The result comes back as a PDF, or through the API. The Registry shows a director's identity number only in part and does not show residential addresses.
