Singpass verification: Government digital identity
Singpass verification confirms a Singapore resident's identity through Singapore's national digital identity. The individual logs in with Singpass from your site or app, sees which data items are requested, and consents. Myinfo then returns the data as held by the Singapore Government: the NRIC or FIN, name, nationality, residential address and employment details the individual consents to share. The result carries the source, the time of the check and the consent record in a signed audit record.
Hong Kong and Singapore banks, brokers, insurers and wealth platforms use it to onboard Singapore customers without document uploads. Chocolate Finance moved its Singpass verification to Fill Easy so that Singpass in Singapore and iAM Smart in Hong Kong run through one API and one team. MAS accepts identity information from a reliable and independent source for non-face-to-face onboarding, and Myinfo is the government's own record.
The check runs through the GovVerify API with the same two calls, consent flow and schema as the other three schemes. The individual needs only the Singpass app they already have. The result returns as soon as the individual consents.
