UAE Pass verification: Government digital identity
UAE Pass verification confirms an individual's identity through the national digital identity of the United Arab Emirates. The individual approves the request in the UAE Pass app and the scheme returns the Emirates ID number, the name in English and Arabic, nationality and date of birth, as held by the government. The result carries the source, the time of the check and the consent record in a signed audit record, in the same schema as iAM Smart, China eID and Singpass.
Banks, payment firms, brokers and insurers with customers in the Emirates use it to onboard remotely without an Emirates ID scan, and Hong Kong or Singapore firms serving Gulf customers use it through the same GovVerify integration as their home scheme. The UAE's AML rules require identity verified from reliable and independent sources, and UAE Pass is the government's own confirmation.
The check runs through the GovVerify API. The individual needs a verified UAE Pass account, which citizens and residents hold with their Emirates ID and GCC citizens and visitors can register for with a national ID or passport. The result returns as soon as the individual consents.
