China eID verification (SinoConnect): Government digital identity

China eID verification, marketed by Fill Easy as SinoConnect, confirms a Mainland Chinese resident's identity from their national resident identity card. The individual consents, holds the card against their phone's NFC reader, and looks at the camera. The chip is read, the identity is confirmed against the official record, and the face is matched to it. The result returns the resident ID with the face check, with the name and ID number as fields, together with the source and time of the check and the consent record.

Hong Kong insurers, banks and wealth managers use it to onboard Mainland customers remotely, instead of collecting a photograph of the identity card that cannot be checked in Hong Kong. Prudential Hong Kong launched it inside PRUSubmit in 2025, and the case study describes the change. Bank card, mobile number, address, education and court record checks can be added to the same request, and so can AML and sanctions screening.

The check runs through the GovVerify API. It works on the customer's own phone, on an agent's tablet or inside your own app. The result is personal information of a Mainland resident, so it reaches your Hong Kong team under Fill Easy's filed Standard Contract for cross-border personal information transfer (Filing No. 202500031); you file nothing yourself. The result returns as soon as the individual completes the tap and the face check.

What does the individual need?

Their Mainland national ID card and a phone with an NFC reader. It works on their own phone, on an agent's tablet or in your own app.

How does the result reach our team in Hong Kong?

Under Fill Easy's filed Standard Contract for cross-border personal information transfer (Filing No. 202500031). The transfer is recorded on the result.

Can we add face, bank card and phone checks?

Yes. A face check against the ID record, a bank card matched to the ID, mobile number status, address, education and court records can be added to the same request.

Does the individual have to consent?
