A Brazilian CNPJ match and a state commercial registry record establish different facts.
Brazilian commercial companies are registered through the state commercial boards, the Juntas Comerciais. The federal CNPJ is a tax and legal-entity identifier maintained through Receita Federal; a CNPJ lookup is separate from obtaining the company’s commercial registration acts.
An international company-search request should identify the state, company form, full legal name and CNPJ. Document availability, requester requirements and retrieval options are confirmed before an order is accepted. Portuguese originals and any required translation should be specified separately.

State commercial registration authorities; Receita Federal for CNPJ; DREI for the commercial registration framework
The state Junta Comercial records the commercial company’s formation and subsequent filed acts. The relevant board depends on the company’s registered seat. REDESIM links registration processes, but its federal presence does not make one state board the registrar for every Brazilian company.
Receita Federal’s CNPJ service provides registration particulars and available associated information. Match those particulars with the relevant state record. Some legal forms use civil legal-person registries or another registration route rather than the commercial board, so establish the legal form first.

CNPJ and applicable state commercial registration reference, including NIRE where used
Preserve the complete CNPJ as issued, including leading zeroes or letters where applicable. CNPJ formatting is evolving; avoid a digits-only validation rule based on legacy numbers. Record the state and commercial registry reference, including a NIRE where it is used, separately.
| Document | What it shows |
|---|---|
| CNPJ registration particulars | Federal registration identity, name, address, status and other fields supplied by the CNPJ service; this is separate from a certified state commercial registration record. |
| State commercial registry certificate or extract | Registered identity and filed particulars within the state board’s selected product. Product names, field coverage and certification options depend on the board. |
| Formation act and amendments | Filed articles or company agreement, amendments and relevant capital or management changes. The date and company form determine what a particular act establishes. |
| Supporting company-held ownership and authority records | Current shareholder or quota evidence and resolutions or delegations supplied through an authorised route when filed acts do not settle the present position. |
No. The CNPJ identifies the entity or establishment in the federal registration framework. The relevant state commercial board holds commercial registration acts, with its own references and products.
Start with the company’s registered seat and legal form. Identify the state board or other competent registration route, then match its record to the full name and CNPJ.
It can supply starting ownership evidence, depending on the form and filings. Corporate holders, later transfers and control arrangements may require further records and a company declaration.
