Registry
Executive agency of the Department for Business and Trade
Companies House is the registrar of companies for the United Kingdom, with Registrars for England and Wales (Cardiff), Scotland (Edinburgh) and Northern Ireland (Belfast). It holds the registers of companies, limited liability partnerships and limited partnerships, and the Register of Overseas Entities, under the Companies Act 2006.
Search is free by company name, number or officer name. The record shows the registered office, incorporation date, nature of business and status; the officers with their correspondence addresses; the people with significant control; outstanding charges; insolvency events; and every document filed, downloadable as an image. Companies House does not verify the content of what companies file, but under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023 identity verification for directors and people with significant control became a legal requirement on 18 November 2025.
