Argentina’s company record belongs to the competent local registry, not one nationwide IGJ search.

Identify the local registry before ordering Argentine company records. A CUIT and a Buenos Aires address need further context to locate the right corporate file.

Buenos Aires City and Buenos Aires Province are different company-registration enquiries.

Argentina’s Registro Público records belong to the competent local registration authority. The Inspección General de Justicia (IGJ) operates within its defined scope in Buenos Aires City. It is not a nationwide registrar holding every company’s complete file.

The federal CUIT identifies the taxpayer. A practical company review connects that number to the legal name, form and local registration record. Start by resolving the jurisdiction rather than ordering a generic Argentine certificate.

Clarify what Buenos Aires means

Ask for the exact registered office, province or city jurisdiction, full legal name and legal form. An address described only as Buenos Aires can mean Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires (CABA) or Provincia de Buenos Aires. The distinction determines the competent registration authority.

The provincial Dirección Provincial de Personas Jurídicas is a separate authority from IGJ. Companies in other provinces need the corresponding local route. A group may have subsidiaries registered in several jurisdictions even when its main commercial office is in the capital.

Use the formation certificate or registered act to identify the authority and reference. Historical documents can use an older name or location. If the company changed its registered jurisdiction, obtain evidence connecting the earlier and present records instead of treating them as unrelated entities.

Preserve CUIT and local references separately

The Clave Única de Identificación Tributaria (CUIT) is an 11-digit tax identifier, commonly displayed in three groups. Preserve every digit and label the number as CUIT. Match the issued value and legal name across tax evidence, invoices and company documents.

Record the local registration number or entry reference together with the authority. Those references can differ by jurisdiction and document. The CUIT is useful for identity reconciliation, but it does not replace the complete local commercial or corporate registration file.

If a trading name differs from the legal name, ask which entity enters the agreement and receives the funds. A brand or commercial office does not establish which registered company bears the obligations. Retain the relationship between the trading style and legal entity as part of the match.

Request documents by purpose

The available local services and copy procedures vary. Define the question before requesting a certificate and confirm what the authority actually supplies. A summary, registered act and company-supplied instrument have different contents and provenance.

For an historical dispute, request the acts covering the relevant period. For present onboarding, identify the latest pertinent amendments and any additional current confirmation available. A recently retrieved formation act still describes formation rather than every fact today.

Confirm the receiving institution’s requirements for certified copies, official confirmations and authentication. Do not assume that a document called a company certificate in one jurisdiction has the same scope in another. Record the exact issuer and product name.

A sociedad de responsabilidad limitada (SRL) has quota interests. Its company agreement and relevant later changes can provide ownership evidence within their stated dates. An original partner list should not be used as a present-owner finding without reviewing subsequent changes.

A sociedad anónima (SA) uses shares. Incorporation subscribers and founding officers do not necessarily identify current shareholders. Request the company-held shareholder register and supporting evidence where the public registered acts do not establish the present position.

Other forms can have different membership and governance arrangements. Identify the actual legal form before promising a standard shareholder list. Ask for capital classes, quantities and rights needed to understand the ownership structure.

For a corporate holder, obtain its own legal identity and jurisdiction and continue the relevant chain. Aggregate interests held by the same natural person through different paths and consider control rights separately. Preserve dates so the chart does not combine incompatible historical positions.

Authority requires more than an officer name

Registered appointment or representation acts can identify the persons serving a particular role. Read their scope alongside the statute or company agreement. The same title can involve different signing arrangements or approval conditions depending on the form and documents.

Compare the officer’s appointment and any later change with the agreement’s signature date. For someone acting under a power of attorney, retain the power and verify the grantor’s authority and relevant limitations. A commercial contact or adviser is not necessarily authorised to bind the company.

If company-supplied evidence shows a recent appointment absent from the retrieved file, request the supporting act and filing or registration evidence. Record what has been reconciled and what remains unconfirmed. Do not infer that either document is false merely because their dates differ.

Keep beneficial ownership enquiries scoped

Do not assume a nationwide public beneficial ownership search or universal access to declaration records. The applicable authority, declaration purpose and access conditions matter. A local company document can establish a reported shareholder or officer without identifying every ultimate controller.

Obtain permitted company declarations and supporting ownership evidence where needed. Label their source and assess whether corporate branches, nominee arrangements or voting rights remain unresolved. An authorised declaration is evidence to evaluate, rather than an independent registry determination merely because it is signed.

Keep restricted information within its lawful purpose and access conditions. Where a record cannot be obtained, describe the limitation and the alternative evidence requested. Restricted access does not establish that the company has no beneficial owners.

Separate tax, financial and regulatory conclusions

Federal tax registration through the competent tax administration, ARCA, supplies tax-identity information. A CUIT match does not establish full tax compliance, present operations or solvency. Request an appropriate tax document when the transaction requires a wider tax conclusion.

Likewise, continued company registration does not establish every sector-specific permission. Check the actual regulated activity and licence holder against the company’s legal name and CUIT. A permission held by an affiliate should not be attributed to the contracting company.

For financial capacity, obtain accounts and other relevant evidence with their reporting dates and assurance level. Company registration documents identify the entity behind those records; they do not certify its ability to fulfil a commercial obligation.
